When your purchase is successfully authorized, the transaction amount is placed on a temporary hold. This means the funds are reserved and cannot be spent until the merchant finalizes the payment by either charging your card or declining the purchase.
During this period, the funds are essentially on hold, awaiting the merchant's action. We are unable to void the transaction because we are waiting for the merchant to either complete or cancel the authorization. Only the merchant has the ability to void the transaction or cancel the authorization. Therefore, you may need to contact the merchant directly to request a payment cancellation.
- If the merchant declines the purchase, the hold will be released, and the funds will become available in your account again.
- If the merchant charges your card, the transaction will be completed, and the funds will be deducted from your account.
